The bimetallic strip in the fan reacts to the temperature and starts the fan, which starts working. No batteries or other power source required.

For use with free-standing fireplaces and stoves. It works in the temperature range of 60 °C to 345 °C. The higher the temperature, the faster the blades rotate.
For maximum performance, place the fan on the top plate of the stove at the back edge, close to the chimney.
The fan base and propeller are made of aluminum. Unique anodized propellers are corrosion resistant and provide perfect heat circulation.
